LitterSorters  (2nd Thursday of each month, 10am – 11.30am)

Next litter pick days:

Help to make Chesterfield a cleaner and a greener place where people can enjoy using our local walking, cycling and wheeling routes.
Join us for our monthly LitterSort Thursdays when we will be collecting, sorting, counting and recording the single use waste that ends up as litter in our parks and on our footways and cycle routes.
We have our own “superbin” sited in Queen’s Park for storing our equipment.
Thank you to Don Catchment Rivers Trust, Specsavers and Chesterfield Borough Council’s Parks & Green Spaces Team for their support for setting up this new Transition Chesterfield activity.
Our first LitterSort took place in February 2023 on a lovely sunny morning when we collected over 12 bags of single use litter.
We usually meet in Queen’s Park near the cricket pavilion (what3 words:invite.button.sulk) but please email in advance to check – we may sometimes go to other areas on the walk & cycle routes
No-one will be working alone – this will be a team effort!
New volunteers are very welcome. However note that children or anyone needing additional support must be accompanied by a carer.
We will provide litter picking tools and gloves  – Please feel able to bring your own if you have them.
Your own hot or cold drink, hot water flask or a reusable drinks cup – we will bring the biscuits!
Please  wear – Sturdy shoes, long sleeves, full leg covering, sensible clothes for the weather.
Email Kathy on membership@transitionchesterfield.org.uk if you have any questions.
